Conditions

Clear water below Mesa Falls makes the lower reaches your best bet right now, while upper sections show slight discoloration. As of September 7, flows are running 1,780 cfs at the Ashton gauge, higher than normal, pushing trout into inside seams and edge water where they're easier to locate. Expect moderate Baetis activity from 11 AM to 2 PM, light Tricos in early morning, moderate Caddis in the evening, and scattered Midges and Terrestrials throughout the day. Incoming storms Sunday into Monday will push flows higher and cloud the water, so plan accordingly.
