Blue-wing olives (BWOs) are hatching
Conditions
Fishing is very good with strong hatches and plenty of feeding fish responding to a variety of patterns. As of October 3, flows were running around 298 cfs at Cataldo, holding stable and below normal. Mahogany duns, blue-wing olives, October caddis, spruce moths, small caddis, and midges are all active. Sculpins, soft hackles, nymphs, and small attractor patterns are all producing. Consider longer, finer leaders given the lower, clearer conditions.

Techniques
- Medium to smaller streamers are the game right now
- Nymphing with smaller offerings is still viable
- Soft hackles as dropper behind dry fly, especially as emerger
- Use 9' 5x or 4x leaders with additional 2' of 5x tippet
- Run soft hackles about a foot and a half or less behind dry fly
- Use pinch-on style foam indicators doubled up inline for delicate micro nymphing
