Hatch Status
You can expect to find a few Tricos, Baetis, caddis, PMDs, as well as flying ants and hoppers
Conditions
The Big Wood is running low and clear heading into late August, so water temperature will be your main concern, especially on the lower river as cooler fall weather moves in. Tricos, Baetis, caddis, and PMDs are active now, with flying ants and hoppers adding to the mix. As temperatures drop, watch for Red Quills (Hecuba) to emerge. Low flows mean you'll want to fish thoughtfully and focus on holding water where trout gather.
