Coho salmon are native, anadromous coldwater salmon of the Clearwater and Snake basins. Dams and habitat loss wiped out Idaho’s run, which was declared extinct in 1986; the Nez Perce Tribe began reintroducing coho to the Clearwater in the 1990s, and those returns now support limited sport seasons in some years.

Episode 129 · Dec 19, 2019

Idaho coho seasons are limited and can change in season. IDFG lists open coho fisheries in parts of the Snake, Clearwater, North Fork Clearwater, South Fork Clearwater, and Middle Fork Clearwater, and specifically warns anglers to know the difference between coho, Chinook, and steelhead where runs overlap.
Regulations vary by water. Check current Idaho Fish and Game rules before fishing.
