Egan's Silver Bullet Baetis working in size #14
Conditions
As of October 12, flows were around 4,050 cfs at the gauge near Irwin, holding steady and in the comfortable fall wading sweet spot. Clear conditions won't last: rain moving in through the weekend will spike turbidity first in the upper sections near Palisades, so plan to fish Conant Valley and lower canyon reaches in the morning. Heavy Mahogany Dun hatches and Blue-Winged Olive activity will keep fish looking up, even under overcast skies. Midge, light caddis, and terrestrial ants round out the menu. Consider parachute BWOs, Baetis patterns, small nymphs, and midge for the window you have before the weather closes in.
