BWOs are really starting to show up with colder, rainy weather
Conditions
Cooler, overcast weather has sparked improved trout fishing on the Coeur d'Alene. As of September 11, flows were running 389 cfs at Cataldo with an upward trend before expected to drop. Blue-winged olives, mahogany mayflies, and October caddis nymphs are active, fish small BWO and Pheasant Tail nymphs in size 14, Pat's rubber legs for the caddis, Orange Stimulators, and sculpins in tan, olive, or black.

Techniques
- As soon as adult October caddis come out, use size 8-6 orange Stimulators or orange Chubby Chernoby, keep them moving with lots of action
- Single hook sculpins in tan, olive or black, in sizes 4-6-8 for streamer fishing
- Use smaller BWO nymphs and Pheasant Tails in size 14 to match mahogany nymphs
- For steelheading use dry lines and skated dries or smaller hair wings; sink-tip optional but recommended to get them on top
- Pats rubber legs will work well for October caddis nymphs
- Use small size 20-22 flying ant as representation for parasitic wasps, run as dropper behind small caddis, mahogany, or hopper
