Hatch Status

Tricos slowly fading, being replaced with Baetis and Midge

Conditions

The Big Lost is running very low through mid-September, concentrating fish in deeper runs and buckets where they hold tight to cover. Flows are dropping further, and once trout settle into their tight-water lies, angling should be excellent. Expect Tricos slowly fading as water cools, with Baetis, Midges, and fall caddis becoming the mainstay. Cold mornings mean no need for an early start, arrive when it suits you and focus on the deeper water and pockets where fish are holding.
