Conditions

The Teton is a prime dry-fly option in early October. As of October 4, flows sit at 401 CFS with clear skies and stable conditions favoring surface fishing. Mahogany duns and Blue Wing Olives are on the menu, with grey drakes possible if weather holds and small parachute hoppers picking up the slack between hatches. A solid arsenal of nymphs like Barr's Beadhead Emergers and Tungsten Hares Ear Jigs will cover subsurface opportunities when needed.

Techniques

  • If you need a dropper nymph, use a Barr's Beadhead Emerger in 16 or 18, or a Tungsten Hares Ear Jig #16
  • Have Mahogany duns, BWO's, and a few grey drakes in case weather conditions allow some Hecuba to hatch
