Conditions
Excellent water clarity and dropping flows on the South Fork have set up ideal conditions for the major mayfly and stonefly emergence expected in the coming days. On June 12, flows were running 11,100 cfs at Irwin to 11,600 cfs at Heise, with fish actively feeding on nymphs as the water temperature holds at 60°F. Green Drakes, Salmon Flies, and PMDs are queued to emerge strongly within 6-10 days, making this a prime window to work nymphs before the surface action begins. As conditions stabilize with falling flows and rising pressure, focus on Green Drake nymphs, Salmon Fly stonefly nymphs, and Pat's Rubber Legs in sizes 4 and 6.

- As temperatures climb later in the week, be ready to switch to dries when the Green Drakes and Salmon Flies start popping.
- Nymph fishing has been excellent. Fish are getting noticeably more active on Green Drake nymphs and Salmon Fly nymphs.
- Keep a heavy nymph rig in hand. Have sizes 4 and 6 Pat's Rubber Legs in the box, along with your favorite Green Drake nymph patterns.
