As of August 19, flows hold at 95 cfs, stable and normal, with water temperature in the high 60s and clear skies overhead. Consider matching Blue-winged Olives (sizes 16–22) on cloudy days, working in Spotted sedge caddis, midges, and terrestrials like grasshoppers and ants; small streamers can work in low light. Upper Preserve areas are wadeable but soft-bottomed; lower sections call for a float tube. The stream sees heavy pressure worldwide, so early mornings and deliberate sight-fishing pay dividends.

- Best strategy is to fish a tandem Midge rig under a small strike indicator with midge larva as bottom fly and midge pupa as top fly
- Fish adult midge only when you observe trout feeding on the surface

- Trout can be taken on streamers mostly during very low light conditions: early mornings, late afternoons and times when skies are heavily overcast
- Brown Sculpin and White Belly sculpin are great flies to use in the fall
