Saint Joe River

Fall cooling is waking up the Saint Joe. As of September 4, flows were running 531 cfs at Calder—a solid jump from extremely low baseline levels that brings much-needed depth and pushes fish off the bank. The added water looks steeper than its actual impact on fishing. Cloud cover and cooler temperatures mean you're not locked into dawn and dusk; you can fish confidently through midday. Blue wing olives, mahogany duns, October caddis, and parasitic wasps are active now, with terrestrials working the grassy and brushy banks.
