Owyhee River

Clear, cold water and consistently active fish make the Owyhee a solid fall play, especially in afternoon riffles where you can sight-fish for larger trout. As of September 5, flows were holding steady at 116 cfs with low reservoir levels and clear skies overhead. Morning midges give way to strong Blue-Winged Olive hatches around 2 p.m., so consider Zebra Midges early and BWO emergers, duns, and nymphs as the afternoon progresses.
