Hatch Status

Smaller fall caddis and October Caddis are both good bets.

Conditions

Stable fall weather has brought excellent water conditions to the North Fork Coeur d'Alene. Clear skies and light winds on September 19 set up a solid day on the water. Look for October Caddis, Mahogany Duns, and Pseudo Baetis in the drift, along with small terrestrials working the banks as the season transitions.

Techniques

  • Longer, lighter leaders and downsizing flies are good ideas, especially when fishing to risers in slower water and tailouts.
