Conditions
The Lochsa is fishing well as flows continue to drop and concentrate trout in pocket water, riffles, and softer current seams. As of August 26, flows were running 427 cfs at Lowell—notably lower than earlier in the month—which tightens holding zones and makes fish easier to locate. Yellow Sallies and caddis are active with surface feeding picking up during cooler morning and evening hours. Consider throwing a Chubby Chernobyl in #10 or #12, or small jig nymphs to match the emerging insects.
