Conditions
Perfect fall weather is bringing eager trout to the Kootenai this week. As of October 3, flows were running 4,110 cfs at Porthill with water at 54 degrees, ideal for nymphing and dry-fly action. The river holds rainbows, cutthroat, bull trout, and the occasional brown trout, most running 12-16 inches. Low angler pressure and active mayfly and caddis hatches, including the October caddis, make this a prime window for the weekend and into next week.
