Conditions
The Coeur d'Alene is running very warm and low this time of year, making conditions marginal at best. Flows at Cataldo sat at 323 CFS as of August 9—well below normal—with stable conditions forecast. Caddis emerge in late afternoons and evenings, and small nymphs in pocket water can produce when the main current feels dead. Small sculpins and crawdad patterns are worth trying when fish are feeding in these tough conditions.

Techniques
- attractor, Stimmulator, Chubby, PMX with small beadhead dropper can fish all day at current flows
- best to get on early and/or the last couple hours before dark
- Streamer fishing is still good. Focus on fast riffles with small sculpin or crawdad imitation
- Morrish Hopper and black beetle dropper is a killer option. Bang the banks and give them a twitch or two
