Conditions
The Coeur d'Alene was running very warm and low in early August, with flows at Cataldo around 309 cfs. These marginal conditions call for careful timing and selective fishing. Caddis hatches arrive in late afternoons and evenings, making that the prime window to focus on surface activity. When terrestrials slump, try small nymphs in pocket water or subsurface patterns like small sculpins and crawdad imitations.

- Morrish Hopper and black beetle dropper is a killer option. Bang the banks and give them a twitch or two
- Streamer fishing is still good. Focus on fast riffles with small sculpin or crawdad imitation
- best to get on early and/or the last couple hours before dark
