Conditions

Float season dominates the stretch from Barber Park to Ann Morrison, so plan early morning sessions before recreational traffic builds. Fish are holding in deeper holes and tail outs, moving to faster water at midday; nymphing is the most productive approach. The river is keying on caddis, PMDs, midges, and grasshoppers along the banks, with caddis pupa and emerger patterns working well. As of August 26, flows were stable at normal levels with air temperatures running 99 degrees—typical mid-summer conditions.

Techniques

  • Nymphing has still been the most productive method. Most fish are sitting down in the deeper holes and tail outs picking off bugs.
