Fish are finding stray Hecuba mayflies and caddis with aggressive and splashy takes.
Conditions
Extra water from Lake Coeur d'Alene is pushing fish out of their summer holds into riffles, tailouts, and deeper pools. Expect sporadic rising activity as fish redistribute. Look for Caddis, Pseudo-baetis, Hecuba mayflies, and early BWO activity. Try Orange Chubbies, small stonefly nymphs, and Caddis nymph patterns. Overcast skies and mild temperatures should keep the fish active through the day.

Techniques
- Fish are starting to spread out from their summer lies and settle into a variety of areas; don't overlook the glassy tailouts and deeper pools.
- Orange or Normwood Chubby is getting attention on the surface.
- Small stonefly and caddis nymphs have been good fished as droppers or under an indicator.
