Hatches of Mahoganies and BWOs, especially on overcast days.
Conditions
Palisades Reservoir is drawing down hard at 11% capacity, and the South Fork has followed suit. As of September 23, the Lorenzo gauge showed 1,840 cfs and holding stable after a continuous drop from the dam's 4,400 cfs outflow. A dropping river can open new water as fish relocate into shallower edges, so consider heavier line and bigger attractors as flows settle. Dry-droppers and nymphing are your most productive tactics right now, with Mahoganies and BWOs especially active on overcast days alongside caddis and terrestrials.
