Conditions

Flows have dropped significantly and continue falling, exposing gravel bars that make wading easier across much of the river. As of September 27, the gauge at Lorenzo read 2150 cfs and falling. Mahogany Duns and Blue-Winged Olives are active. Water levels favor wading anglers, though boaters should be cautious of shallow side-channels. Consider heavier presentations and bigger attractors as conditions settle further.

Gauges

Techniques

  • Mahogany duns and BWO's are available, but streamer fishing or nymphing has been the ticket for the most part.
  • The guides here in the shop fish the duracell, black bullet quill, and rubberlegs quite a bit on the South Fork.

Access

Wading is easier now with exposed gravel bars. Boaters should watch for shallow side-channels.
