Fall conditions have arrived on the South Fork with cooled air and water temperatures creating a sweet spot for anglers. As of September 4, flows were running 3,610 cfs at Lorenzo and falling, bringing fish into newly exposed zones along the banks. Early morning dry fly fishing is sharp in the clear, cool weather; switch to nymphs, hoppers, and streamers in the afternoon when conditions warm. Mutant Stones, Blue Winged Olives, and Mahogany Duns are active, and terrestrials remain productive. Consider heavier line and bigger attractors near the edges as flows settle.
