Big Wood River

The Big Wood will see variable flows through late August as conditions continue to shift from the very low water reported earlier in the season. Cooler water temperatures are improving the fishery, but larger trout remain spooky in thin flows and may give only one shot, so plan to cover ground and hunt for less-pressured water. Tricos, Baetis, spruce moths, crane flies, and hoppers should all see activity; small nymphs trailed below those dry patterns will be productive where fish are focused on subsurface feeding.
