Conditions

The South Fork is running fast and pushy at elevated flow, concentrating fish tight to banks and in softer seams where current breaks. Wading options are limited; float fishing is your best approach. Grasshoppers and terrestrials dominate the midday window from 10 AM–2 PM, with PMDs and ants active earlier in the morning. Wildfire smoke and high air temps will push fish off by early afternoon, so plan to fish early and wrap up by noon when water temps climb and conditions deteriorate.
