There are still a few Salmonflies fluttering around and fish will still look up for them, but if they are refusing, size down.
Conditions
Fishing here is highly variable and hinges on hatch timing; when big bugs are on the water, fish can shut down for 12–24 hours. Water levels remain elevated, making wading difficult, though conditions should improve as summer ends and fall approaches. When you do connect with an active bite, throw big bugs like Chubby Chernobyls, Water Walkers, Dancin Rickys, and Cicadas on top; if fish are refusing, downsize color or profile rather than abandoning dries. On slow days, nymphing or streamers are your best bet. Water temperature is holding at 59 degrees with clear skies and rising barometric pressure.

Techniques
- If you are getting refusals, change up the color or size before you abandon the dry fly game, and always consider hanging a dropper below for fish that are keyed into emergers just under the surface.
- When you hit it right, be ready to throw big bugs on top. Chubby Chernobyls, Water Walkers, Dancin Rickys, and Cicadas have all been producing.
