Low, clear summer flows reward careful wading and stealthy presentation—the gin-clear water makes steelhead and trout spooky, so keep your shadow off the water and consider 5X or 6X fluorocarbon tippet. As of September 4, flows were running at 4,190 cfs with water temperature at 64°F and stable conditions. Caddis are heaviest 6–8 PM, terrestrials and hoppers peak 11 AM–4 PM, and Blue-Winged Olives are moderate 10 AM–1 PM; work Bionic Hoppers and terrestrial patterns during midday, then switch to Corn-fed Caddis and Parachute BWOs in the evening.
