No better, fish better. Here's your host, Hogan Brown.
Alright, everybody. Welcome back to the Barb podcast. My name is Hogan Brown, and I am excited to have a
a guest I've met over the last month
through somewhat of an odd circumstance, My a guest on the podcast and good friend, Matt K. Podcast
recommended that I blindly reach out to an individual by the name of Adam Hudson with regards to,
I think Matt said there a bunch of guys that get a bus and go fish is how That
conversation started And
you know, Matt, I I don't know if you've ever met Matt, but he usually does not point me in at least not interesting directions.
So
I at least knew there was gonna be more to the story and and there definitely was. Adam welcome to the show.
Well, man, and I appreciate you having me on. Yeah. No. It's it's funny... I've known you for a while, and I do the podcast pretty regularly, and I
was kinda surprised that I had Asked to be on it sooner. So
I apologize.
No problem. Many times. Yeah. So, you know,
tell our listeners, like, if they were to flip over the Adam Hudson,
Paw tuck baseball card, what would it say on the back? What... What where are you coming from what are your stats?
Well, I don't know. I don't know if my baseball card would ever be worth a whole lot. Right?
So from north Alabama...
Obviously, fly fishing is not too big around those parts. But,
conventional bass fishing is is just absolutely keen.
We've got that kinda area of the world has some of the best large mouth bass fishing.
That there is a lot of our lakes
are are huge for conventional ba, tournaments, things like that. So Yeah. Kind of the kinda that's where I grew up. I I feel like...
Well... My dad was a pretty big conventional bass fisherman as well, and
kinda grew up around it, but never was super interested in it. I I don't really know I, but just never really struck
my fancy. So
I started fly fishing at pretty young age. I was eight.
Started decided to try fly fishing. My uncle kinda got me into it a little bit, and
was really interested kinda
seeing what he was doing and and I don't know why, but even, like, not catching fish on a fly It was more fun for me than, you know, using the thing real. So...
And, you know, there's always something that really kinda drew me into the rivers as well. The lakes are cool and I love hanging out on the lake and, you know,
just... It's a it's awesome place, but there's something about rivers that I just, you know, was really interested in.
Started fishing a lot on the river, and, I mean, like my mom would drop me down to the river to drop me off. We lived close to a close to a river that I like Fish a lot.
And then and every once in a while with, you know, to me, it was really not a lot over rhyme. Or reason why it would happen. But I would end up catching a small mouth bass on my fly.
Oh where generally, I was targeting, like, a pan fish. You know, because I could... I could catch them. They were fun. You know... Yeah. I I still... To this day I still love to go, target some Pan fish on a fly rod. But, Yeah
I... And it was, like, I... You know I mean, obviously Was still very. I was very young, and I was to me, I really couldn't never figure out, like, why did I catch that small mouth? Like, but when I was brim fishing, but it was way more fun, and I knew that, and I was like well, bang. That'd be cool if I could just figure out how to catch those things. And
You know, one thing kinda led to another, and then now this is my life. Is
you know, producing flies, producing, you know, fishing content for folks,
hopefully, you know, there's some people who were kind of in a similar position as me,
you know, maybe maybe maybe they're eight years old picked up a fly rod, trying to figure out what's going on or
you know, we when we have a pretty big audience range. So some people, you know, we have folks who,
you know, are trying... Learn something all the way up to folks who, you know, might be hanging out and, you know, rem a little bit on their days of out out there doing it. Can't do it anymore. So Yeah got a little bit of everybody now. That's really that's a really good story and, like, early...
Very ee similar to my own, Were you an only child?
Yes. Am. Did we... I might as well have been from North Alabama. That's very similar to my story.
The first thing I thought of when you were telling that story is, like,
I was reading your bio and
eat it even says North Alabama in your bio and, like, in my part of the world in northern California,
like, that north is a very serious
designation. Like,
you are... Like, when people are, like, where are you from and be, like, I'm Northern California. Don't confuse me when any needed of that shit in the Southern California.
Like, that place is a dumpster fire, and I gotta get on a plane to go there. Like, So is that is, like north. That's like, I... I'm getting a feel that that's like a thing, Like, you are from north Alabama.
Not not necessarily It's. It's not. You know, kind of what it's definitely not your distinction between north California. Yeah.
But North Alabama does have a very different beneficiary than than middle even even middle to South Alabama. Okay. Okay. The North Alabama is the low... Is
on the East Coast, that side of things. Obviously, they're small mouth in Texas lower, almost in Mexico border. But from that part of the thing... From that part of things in the Tennessee River and the, you know, what...
You know, in the southeast. Yeah. Where Alabama is the well, southern most extent of the range of native small mouth. Oh,
okay. So... So
really,
much past,
Alabama. There's... Or really past where I grew up. If you even try to go a little bit south. There's no small mouth rivers. Gotcha.
That all turns into a large mouth and spotted bass. Gotcha. Still still
incredibly fun to target on Fly Rods. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely.
But there's little bit of geography in in Alabama is a very interesting spot,
but there's what this called the fall line.
Okay. Is right around Birmingham, middle of the state and,
really south of that, the river,
the rivers change a whole lot. They go from, in the north is the is the end of, the Appalachian Mountains as well. Okay. So it's Hill. There's,
a lot of rocks in the river, a lot of big, big,
you know, baseball sized rocks.
There's a lot of rocky bottom, which is just small mouth heaven.
Gotcha. First little further down,
it starts to become a lot more sandy, si muddy bottoms. Gotcha.
There's definitely still a good fishing, but it's very... It's a little different.
Gotcha. The and and very different,
kind of geography of that area. It's a lot more flat, really from Birmingham, like, all the way down to the beach of Alabama is pretty dang flat. So... Gotcha. Oh, okay. That makes sense now. It's it's an... It's a very important
geographic
designation based on fishing.
Yeah. Yeah. Less cultural and yeah.
Maybe our Northern and southern brethren. So... Right. Right.
But small, I don't know. I I can't imagine there's a ton of your listeners that are from
Alabama or that would know this, but
Alabama really is kind of a overlooked, spot on a fly fisherman map. Oh, no. Absolutely.
I mean, that's I don't know if I ever told you, but that's what kinda led me to, like,
Matt recommending I reach out to you was,
like, looking
at the country is a guy that does marketing and being like, well Wow. There's a a whole...
Basically, I think I was looking at Google Analytics one day, and I'm like, wow. There's a... Not a lot of people that log onto our website from that part of the the country. We need to maybe do some work there. And yeah. You know, it was like,
who do we know in that part that fly is and it was, like,
call this guy? I'm like, is that all you got? Like, yeah. That's all I got. I'm like,
Alright. Let's
luckily turned out vehicle a cool guy?
You know, just like anywhere there's there's
quite a few people in in the southeast and and you end up finding each other. You know? Yeah. Totally.
There's... I mean, I've got a crew guys, even people that I talked to on the phone or, you know, even friends that I'm guys that I've kind of be friend from social media stuff too that I've, you know, we're from Alabama, just, you know, we don't,
just
it similar interest, similar minded folks, you know, kinda end up finding each other. Yeah
But
One of the really cool things about North Alabama that not, you know, not a ton of people know is
Alabama has the most diverse
species of fish in the entire country. Wow wow. Pretty cool.
And all of North America.
Has
more
species of fish
and also crawfish
than any other state.
Wow.
I I mean, I'm I'm impressed with the fish one. I mean that... And the crawfish one, that's just, you know, that's gravy because that feeds the fish. Right? Like... Yeah. Yeah So so the let me get this straight. So Alabama of all the states
essentially has the most fish species in Is that... That is correct. That's insane because you don't think of it as a geographically diverse state. You know what I mean like You wouldn't. No.
And and and now again, remember, we are talking fresh water. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No.
I didn't bring, you know? Yeah. Not gonna bring the ocean into that, Obviously. But, yeah. Fresh water species of fish, is actually really cool. And,
the population density of these fish is is incredibly high,
in a lot of these places. So, our rivers
are
incredibly
cool ecosystems, because have a brazilian different species of fish in a lot of our waters. Wow.
And, I mean, it's it's diverse enough that, like... So I
I graduated from University of Alabama.
And,
one of my last years we had a,
field course where we were,
describing new species of crawfish. Yeah. And, I mean, it was... It there's enough crawfish in that state that it was not hard to find a new species of crawfish to identify. Wow.
So
pretty cool. But Alabama is in a really neat spot because as I kind of alluded to earlier, the very north... North part of Alabama is the most southern range of the Appalachian.
Then you have this area that transitions all the way down to the beach. Yeah. And that's something you don't, like, when I think of Alabama, I don't think of Gulf Coast.
For some you what I mean? Like,
that just does not come to mind.
And
that's just wrong because it's right on the gulf. Right? Like... Yeah.
So...
So it's it's it really is pretty cool because there's very limited trial.
Fishing in Alabama. So you definitely find,
a lot of other things to target if you interested in. Yeah. And Bass was high on my list. But,
like, I was say it, Alabama it was really pretty cool for a for someone that likes to fly fish because you have all sorts of awesome warm water fisheries,
and Alabama has so much water that you can be on a river in, like,
five, ten minutes that has fish from nearly anywhere in the entire state. It's it's absurd between ponds,
neighborhood ponds or little rivers and creek all the way up to the big rivers,
there's so much water in the state that you can find anywhere to fish. And then,
you can travel just a little bit north, Tennessee has a great trout beneficiary. Yeah
tons of awesome fishing in in Tennessee, and it's actually becoming more and more popular.
Even for people to travel to, and it's
more so, you know, e East Coast, but I've started seeing people,
I talked to a gentleman the other day from,
who was born and raised in Montana grew up in Montana and had traveled to Tennessee to fish.
And I actually thought that was pretty cool. That is. I mean, and and, you know, that whole air... Like, you know, I mean, dude there's people in California move into Austin... Not Austin, but Nashville,
you know, I mean that whole area around,
that part of the country is really growing. Even one of my good buddies is the southeast
sales rep for Sims lives right outside of Nashville, Tennessee and... Yeah. Nashville is a very booming spot. Yeah. And I mean, the fishing this guy talks about is absolutely insane and for the most of it untapped. Right? Like, yes not it's not on the cover of the magazine so to say. That's correct. Yeah. Yeah. Very few people really take advantage of that. And mostly it's local, you know, local folks.
But then continuing on, I used to, you know, we've got, a really cool,
gulf coast fisheries as well.
I've caught
sn,
red fish, pom.
Yeah. Lady Fish, Spanish Macro all in
Alabama.
And that's super interesting because, like, I mean,
one of my good buddies Lucas Be, who... He's actually now the director of Av, but he he came up as a red fish guide, you know, born and raised and
Louisiana, like,
watching the the New Orleans red fish scene, like, absolutely
explode, like a, you know, freaking boy band or something.
Yeah.
You know, people are traveling there. And and
you know, you kinda work your way down the coast. I mean, you gotta have halfway decent red fish and, you know, all that kind of stuff, and then,
you know, I'd imagine you don't have the giant fisheries that they have. But, I mean, red fish. Of all sizes are pretty damn fun.
So... Yeah. Yeah. We definitely don't get the big push of bulls at least Where they're easily targeted on a fly rod. Yeah. The spin guys get after really get after some big fish
in Alabama Waters. But,
those are those fish generally tend to hang out pretty deep. Yeah. But definitely up on the flats. I mean, you know, slot reds are abundant. There's... They're definitely in there.
I mean, they're ahead with a lot of fun to catch. And for me, you know, I could have my boat launched in the river
in five in or, you know, in the bay in five hours from my house
or north, I could go forty five minutes and catch trout.
So That's nuts. So cool. Oh, it's a amazing place for people that are in the fly fishing. So when you talk about rivers,
you know, in your area, are you talking, like, you know, obviously, you know, you're in the heart of the Tennessee Valley project and, you know,
some... Are these all fairly large tail water controlled rivers is that most what you're looking at?
So we do have a couple of huge
controlled rivers, and that would be... As far as all the trout fishing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. It's it's
there's a lot of huge
tail water release rivers,
the Tb stocks and manage Yeah.
What about the small mouth rivers?
The small mouth rivers that we tend to target are all.
Oh, that's awesome.
All, you know, kinda spring out of the mountains, the water Generally pretty cool.
There's r.
If you guys haven't watched any of our videos
Yeah. I was coming through them today. You did a... I I don't know if there's a video on it, but I looked at a bunch of, you know, small mouth
the twenty twenty one A l small mouth road trip or whatever that was... The photo essay was was Yeah. That was gorgeous.
You know?
Yeah. If when we do those videos, we really do try to kinda hint on, like, the,
even more so than
you know, when we're like, out west or trout or something. I mean, everybody
everybody on the planet knows that Montana is beautiful. Yeah. Right.
We we we really do try to hit
hard on the on the facts on the scenery and stuff. And... Yeah. There's been a lot of days that you know, I I, obviously, I grew up there. I don't I don't know if I necessarily take it for granted, But, you know, it's one of those things that you see every day day and day out. You kinda loses it's, you know,
interest to you, I guess. But... Oh, absolutely. Yeah. I get that. It's... Yeah. But it's it's kinda funny. You know, I I now started traveling a lot for for this job and fishing a lot of different rivers and fisheries and
targeting different species and whatever. And it's really funny because now I kinda look back. Almost with you know, the graduation goggles. I'm, like, man, that... Like, there's some places there that you you could take
ninety nine percent of people on in the in this country and put them on this river, and they would have no idea that you were in the State of Alabama.
No. It's it's really... It what reminds me of is as I mean, I I...
I'm older than you been around for a while. It's like,
it's what Sc he's done in the Midwest, but
before Sc did it in the Midwest. You know? It's like, Yeah. You know, ten years ago, fifteen years ago when I was, you know, guiding full time. And if someone was like, hey, dude do you wanna take a road trip to Michigan? I'd be, like, why the fuck would I wanna go to Michigan. You know what I mean? Like,
unless not Dame playing at the big house. I don't set foot in that state. You know? And,
like, now it's like, I I could probably... If I went through my clientele list, I'd be like, oh, yeah, That guy, I that guy's fish with Schultz, like, that guy goes like, It's a world
destination for small mouth fishing in Michigan. You know what I mean? Like Right. And I'm looking through some of your pictures and listening to you talk about it, and I'm like, dude, how like, this is, like Michigan before Sc blew it up.
You know, I, like,
this is cool.
So, I mean, is it... Is it getting... I mean, do you see it that getting popular?
Because, I mean, like, dudes in California will get on planes to catch small mouth bass? Because there's like, there's just enough of them in our state well, where people are, like, these are really fun,
but there's not enough of them or is the fishing good enough to, like,
sat
the frenzy?
You know what I mean? Like, Yeah.
It...
I'm not sure. You know, it's... I definitely haven't seen it get a lot bigger.
Fly fishing in general across the entire country, Alabama included. Fly fishing getting more popular? Oh, for sure. Or sure.
But I don't...
I have never once heard from someone who said that they traveled, you know,
like what you're talking about.
Put plenty of people, you know, come, you know, oh, you know, from Georgia, I came over here to fish this or whatever. You know, you may get people that are driving an hour to or you know, maybe even three. Yeah. But, no. I've never... I've never talked to anyone who's who's been there for, you know, four fishing. But
it is pretty interesting that, you know, people
people don't... I, I guess, obviously, I I have
you you know, we all we all think a lot of our fisheries God. Yes. Yeah. You know, I'll all everyone would tell you, that, you know, that they've got the best beneficiary or the best. Yeah. You know, bass fisher or whatever. But the cool thing with Alabama, is that,
because it is the southern most range,
the
the growing season if you will for small mouth is a lot longer than those that they have in Michigan? Yeah. I never thought of that. But that's a really good point. Yep. For those of you who might be geographically being impaired, Alabama
South of Michigan. That's a lot of So
they're therefore her,
you know, the... We we don't have four seasons. It really goes from summer straight to winter.
Yeah. And
our our fish really
really
stay in the river a lot longer than
what, you know, what I would believe there's Fish in Michigan would.
Gotcha. On top of that, because we were talking of minute ago about how
diverse our rivers are,
we have so many bait fish in our rivers
that these bats just
gorge themselves on, you know, four to six inch fish all day long.
And the world's most diverse population of crawfish.
Essentially the the largest menu of crawfish in the entire country. Right. So they have a all you can eat buffet.
Wow every day of
fish,
crawfish,
prey,
and they sit in these rivers
for
months more than they... Than the, you know, the river fishing season would be, you know, in
you know, up north. Gosh. So pretty pretty interesting because we grow
really big fish. Yeah. Oh, I mean,
the... Yeah. The geography in the environment need set that up. Right? Like, that really makes sense. Yeah. Right. So, you know, it's not it's not too uncommon to run across, you know, some really big fish in Alabama, which is... And and and included in that, you know, Southern Tennessee a seat. Yeah. I, you, I'm close enough to that. That border, the geography and the, you know, the weather patterns are all the exact same there.
But it's it's it's really a very interesting,
interesting spot that... I mean, you're you're definitely right. I I just don't think anyone has really come in there and tried to, you know, really blow it up. Yeah. Are there guys that guide? I mean, are their dudes no. Wow.
No. There's nobody... There's people... There are people that guide out of Nashville.
One of my really good friends
guides in that area, Yeah
And and if you are interested in small Mouth fishing in the Southeast, you can get guides. Yeah. But, no. There's... I used to guide that area. Yeah. And I I don't anymore after I move to Salt Lake now. But... Gotcha.
You know, It's as far as I am aware no, nobody guides in that area. Wow. That's a rare thing in this day and age to say that about a region. Right? It is. And honest to God, I think it would be difficult for you to... It would be difficult to do that as a full time job in area. I don't think there's enough people that fish. Yeah. And there's zero of that
destination, you know, that you're that you're talking about, like, in Michigan. Yeah. There's zero of that, you know, Oh, I wanna go here and fish. I'm gonna grab a guide.
That that doesn't really exist.
Yeah. There's plenty of people that do guide for, you know, conventional
large mouth fast fishing, and, occasionally, you might find someone who's interested in small mouth in the area, but those would be on, like, the big lakes and and the really big lakes in Alabama. Yeah. That makes sense.
Yeah.
So
Hike I I found you via
wild
productions
and
I was looking at that and that... That started. I didn't realize you guys have been around that since two thousand thirteen.
And
I don't know if I just don't know how to use the Internet or whatnot, but,
tell the listeners a little bit about that because that's really where a lot of this kind of led. Right? Is the creator Sure. Yeah.
So Scott
Scott is the... Is, you know, the guy that owns Wild. He's the one that does a lot of the filming, the producing for the short bus
things like that.
I met Scott
because,
for blue line, we were interested in
starting to do some more,
some filming things like that. We kinda
you know, saw some people who were
doing videos and we were like, you know what? I kinda feel like we could do that and... Blue line both not to interrupt you, but blue line is what? And I know, but let's tell the listeners.
Oh, sure. So Blue line is, my my company. So,
myself and Steven or H Steve from the bus diaries if you guys have watched that. He and I own a fly company called Blue line flies,
as
the
specific fly part of it, But we
we produced
really great flies
the kind of of stem from a lot of what we've talked about, the fact that we grew up in Alabama and
there's very few bass flies readily available for folks.
So
we created Steven and I created Blue line flies. Gotcha. Because we just
blatantly thought that we could create flies better than some other folks out there, especially for bass fishing. Because Most of what could find on the market
was...
Garbage.
Was calling what it is.
Was was garbage. It was either poppers,
which is cool.
But
again, talking about the fish in my fisheries. Yeah. That are targeting
huge cray and bait fish Yeah. They don't need your poppers. No. I'm not saying you won't catch them on a popper, but you... I have never seen
anyone personally catch a huge fish on a poppers. So
I just don't I don't think the big fish really key on them like they might in other parts of the world. Yeah. So it was either... The flies readily available were either poppers
or
trout flies that were maybe big or
salt flies that were maybe a little smaller. Gotcha.
And
the board... And then the bass streamer section of things was very
small in the
You know, in the big book of flies that you could order. So anyways, that's kind of what we were looking at because we us, we used to work at a, in a flash shop. So when we would order flies, we were kinda like, well,
how does this really work? There's not, you know, holes.
Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. So
saw a huge hole in the market. And we were like, what hey, we could figure out how to do that. Yeah. So one of the things we were really big on is
making sure that we had the right hooks,
hooks that had a bigger gap generally than travel flies do,
to be able to get a good, you know, a good hook on a on a large bass.
Yeah.
And that was really big for us, and then, obviously, just the quality of flies.
But they're all flies that we designed, love to, love to fish them and,
honestly, personally, it's it's... You know, once we get a fly designed, that's what we fish. I mean, I don't tie a lot of my own patterns anymore that we sell. Yeah. Because I just fish the ones that we sell because they're
they're great buzz.
Yeah. And now I... That's the benchmark. Right Kind of... Yeah. Exactly. If it it works fine. You know, why would I tie it myself
Exactly.
Ones. Yeah.
But, you know, from my guiding days too, it was, you know, kinda learn some things through that. So
you know, we kinda... We've spent expanded a little bit. Kinda, you know, we have a some pretty cool merch out now like hats and shirts and stuff for people.
They just wanna support and then
you know, as kinda just wrapping back into what we were talking about. Yeah. We were like, well, heck. We like to do... You know, we like to streamer fish. We'd like to do some of this stuff. You know, we've watched some videos on Youtube. There's
obviously some really cool stuff, but I don't necessarily think anyone's doing anything that's cooler than what we do. Yeah. So we're like, well, let's
try to find a videographer to do a video for us. We're like, okay. Cool. So
we... Steven and I were like, alright. We wanna set... We wanna do a trip. So what what cool trip could we do that has to revolve around streamer fishing. K. And I couldn't think of another fish... Number one that I wanted to catch more or number two that I think fits more with stream fishing than bull out.
K. So
we
loaded up... We went to Canada to bull trout.
And we put out a video with Scotty called Northern Natives.
Okay... Yeah. Yeah.
So that's kinda how we met Scott. So... And so you met Scotty by just, like, straight up hiring him.
Yes. Gotcha.
Gotcha.
It... Scott was Scott was great. His channel definitely was awesome in no way am I saying that it's because of us. I think it was the partnership. Definitely oh yeah. For sure.
Myself and Scott created. Yeah. Because now he's not just he's not a you know, a professional friend Andy he's a personal friend at this point. Totally. And
you know, since we've we created,
we really kinda hit it off, we started scheming on a lot of different aspects of of both of our businesses, and essentially created a
you know,
a pretty cool system that we have going, which is like, you know, we we both help each other's business out a lot. Yeah so. For sure.
Anyway. So I've I've personally been involved with Wild for about two and a half years now. Gotcha.
And so
how did and I I think this is... Probably the most the popular thing you guys have done that's gotten the most attention is the short bust diaries.
Right. And, I mean, that's just comb through it. I mean, that's what... You know. So... Oh, yeah. How did
how did that
come to be. And and let's be real. I mean, it it... What is it? Because
it could go with a lot of different... You know, there's a lot of direction short diaries could go in?
Right. Right.
So
per usual... I mean, we...
So the... And there's also Bryant who hasn't been mentioned in this phone call yet, but it's going to be in this story.
So
Bryant is part of the short bus crew as well Yeah You know, you've seen them on a lot of the other Wall videos.
Great guy,
him,
myself
and Steven are all from the same hometown in Alabama.
Okay.
So, Brian actually the one who put us in contact with Scotty for the northern Native Yeah. Bull trout fishing series.
But we we were on the phone, and we were kinda talking about just some different video ideas, what we do, what can we figure out.
And Steven and I've kinda done some pretty crazy things that we wish, you know, we had documented like,
we've bought a vote just to take on a fishing trip before a couple times. We've I don't know. We... I kinda am always cruising and Craigslist looking for something weird or I don't know something. And
you know, there's a time that we purchased a... We
we went on a fishing trip.
We really thought that we were gonna be able to wade this river that we got to,
and it turns out that we couldn't.
So I bought a canoe from Craigslist that night.
So just why
why wouldn't why would you do? Yeah Why would you do that? I don't know. That's just kinda I guess the way to that my brain operates. So
we get off the water and we're like in. What are we gonna do? This kinda stinks When we're were like, well, I don't know. We need a boat.
Well,
Let's just go by a new.
So,
anyways, that's... We we were kinda talking along those lines like, man. That would be, you know, the... At least the time that we did that or there was another time that
I had a raft. I've been a big raf fan for a while. Had a raft in Alabama, Steven and I drove it out to Montana, and we were like, man.
This raft is kinda small in Montana. Yeah. And so we sold it on Craigslist, and then later that day went and bought another one off of Craigslist and upgraded from a ten foot raft to a twelve and a half foot raft while we were in Montana.
That's awesome. So
we were we were kinda talking along those lines. And,
Bryant was really the whole short bus was Bryant idea, but he...
He was like, man. What if we had, like, you know, something, you know, along the lines of camper van was coming up and Brian Yeah. You, what if we bought a bus?
Like, they cannot be that expensive,
and that's plenty of room.
And so
I... Bryant... Brian definitely an an idea guy from our crew.
For sure. And comes up with a lot of great ideas. And
I was... And I... I don't know what, but it really struck and nerve with me as, like, man, that would be
killer.
So
later than great idea, let's do that. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm sure we were probably a couple adult beverages into that conversation conversation. Absolutely. Anybody that buys a bus is a recreational device is usually not so
That's fair. That's fair assessed. Yeah. But, I mean, it's it's worked out. So, I mean, it's worked out.
So
that next day I'm thinking about it more and more and I'm, like, man. Like, I honestly god think there could be something there.
So
I don't know how serious the other guys thought that, you know, I don't I don't know if it necessarily struck a nerve with the rest of them like it did with with me. But for something about Brian's idea. I was like, you know what?
We need to do this. So two days later, we were the owners of a short bus that you saw in volume
one
of short bus diaries.
Oh, that's it. Well, one and two. Sorry. Yeah.
So we went and bought that bus off Craigslist,
started working on it. I think Bryant head was still spinning and, like, what the heck We hold on. We bought it. And what are we doing? And,
you know, we're coming up with all this stuff, and like, yeah, guys. Alright We're doing this. When are when are we taking this thing on a trip. And this just happened.
Right. Yeah. Yeah. I just went bought this bus for all of us and now we're doing this. So y'all gotta come out in the salt lake now. We gotta to go do something with it. Yeah. We're locked in at this point.
We're we're locked in now.
So
I mean, it... It's a really great crew because all of us have, you know, have our roles and and we all really chip in well. Yeah. And we're all not just...
I I think it shows well in the videos. But we're not... We're not just professional friends. We're we're all personal friends too. Yeah.
And so it it really the
a unique group of guys that that,
we're we're all... And, especially, me, I mean, we're all just extremely lucky to that we all somehow ran across each other, and it all just... It all just works out right.
So so you buy the bus,
you're you are... I I mean, is this, like, in your name, you are a legal owner of a a bus
At this point. Okay. So you are taking... This is your this is your thing. This is like the guy that's in the band that puts the van
the tour are in your van in his name.
I've been that guy and you're, like, you're fucked because, like, when shit goes south, like your everybody's like. Oh, I don't know what you're bringing. I Yeah. You know, That's your man. Yeah. That sure where we gonna store that at, that yours.
So Well, you buy the van, and what's what's... So, like, what's the next step? Like...
So we... The next step was to get it ready for a fishing trip. Okay. So this is, like, your you're your road trip in this thing. That's where we're going. Correct. Okay. Yep. Yep. We're gonna road trip this thing.
There's not a lot of spots that I really love to fish around Salt Lake. Yeah.
You're... I don't know your viewers we're gonna... There's gonna be comments on this one, but I I don't know. I don't love the fishing around Salt Lake star. It just is what it is. Yeah.
If they don't like that. That's their problem. Yeah. There yeah. Yeah. Whatever.
So...
But there's awesome fishing around salt lake. Yeah.
Yeah. So we start... I mean, step one is we need to convert this bus, start working working on it, get it, you know, ready to go so that we can all sleep in it, carry our fishing gear.
Buses don't generally have trailer hitch pitches. So there's nowhere to put the boat.
A some valid point. I never thought of that.
Yeah.
And... Oh, man, that was a... That conversation. I man, I wish that if I was smart, I would have been recording my phone calls when I was calling these people saying, hey,
I... Do you guys install trailer hitch pitches and then mail like, oh, yeah Absolutely. What is it?
It's a nineteen ninety one
But
That's fucking great. They're just like, no Fuck off. Like, why you. Like,
no. We don't do that.
We're not doing that call someone else.
Yeah. Oh, okay. Bye.
Thanks.
Yeah. So
anyways, just kinda dialing...
Trying to dial in, you know, the the the things that we really need to take this bus on a trip. Yeah.
The first episode is fully self funded,
yeah all four of us not but not self funded by me, but we all four.
We're like, well, let's see what we could do with this. So
we're we're spending our own money. So, you know, we're
trying to figure out how to do it as cheap as possible, but also to be able to get, you know, a great storyline,
be able to come across as as genuine as possible
to be, you know, be the be exactly what we were trying to produce. Yeah. You know,
entertaining fun, but also very
you know, do it yourself
mentality, which which I I mean, I definitely think that we still come across.
There's nothing in any of the short bus diaries that, you know, four
guys couldn't go do. Yeah. I mean, I I I watched, I think the first episode of the newest one and it... It's not like you're rolling in a fucking win a bag now with, like, you know, it's not a Mercedes van now. It's right. Right? Like... Yeah. It's not like you got Mercedes sponsors, and, you know, now you're living in the lap luxury on the road. It's still a school bus.
Right. Yeah. It's still a school bus that I bought off Craigslist
Exactly.
So anyways, yeah,
but we... Just kind the timing of the time of the year kinda worked out,
the Salmon flies were going off in Idaho. So were like, you know what? Let's
all four of y'all or the three of y'all, I live in Salt Lake. So, you know, the three all flat Salt Lake, let's hop in this bus, and we're gonna drive it epic Same fly fishing and just see what happens. Yeah.
So you could... If Yeah. I don't know. If you you guys want more you hop on and watch, you know, the original short bus diaries smell,
just if you just Google Short bus diaries it's... Oh, yeah. We'll put all the links and everything up. But so so you... Yeah. The idea was to live in this thing and fish out of it. Like, you're not parking at the most health six and sleeping in, you know, or the, you know, the rad and sleeping inside. Oh, yeah. No. No what we do. Yeah. This is self contained. So you'd had to.
You you built beds.
What else do you build in this thing?
So still talking about the first one. We built beds. We built,
some storage you... Some storage areas.
We had a little area that we could, you know, be able to store a lot of our stuff.
We put a on in it that I bought off Craigslist,
and...
Balls z move a On off Craigslist.
Yeah. I know.
It wasn't great.
But anyways, we we kinda had a little hangout area. It was Yeah. It was it was great. I still have very fond loving memories of that bus.
But then and then had the trailer hit hooked up. Yeah. Went up to Idaho fished out of it.
There was one day admittedly in Idaho, that
it was coming a pretty... It was gonna be a really bad snowstorm. We've been in the snow all day. We were all at not just absolutely soaked to the bone after filming. Yeah. And we did get a... We did get a little cabin thing. And I Yeah. There's no shame there. Dude. There's no shame there. Like yeah. It was it was tough. Yeah. But after that, yes. I mean, the entire idea was that all four of us could hop in this bus.
Drive it wherever we wanted to be able to pull off. I mean, we've slept at rest areas. We've slept in Walmart parking lots. We've strap slept in truck stops.
You know, Yeah
on our way to places,
be able to, you know,
hopefully, just kinda live live the fishing life on the cheap is kind of what we wanted the short bust diaries to be,
which also, in turn, we really hope is relatable to a lot of people. So short the reasons people like it. Yeah. So you knocked up or the, you know, I called episode one, but it's basically season one or the the first trip out, and that became
the short bust Diaries one. Correct? Yes. Yes. So then
that bus
lived
two short bust diaries too. Yes. Yes. It lives... It made it through Short bus too, which honest to God, I don't... I I don't know how it did it. Yeah. So
so at that point, you were guys like, hey, That was fun. Let's do it again. Type of deal?
So, like, it's... At the end of water or at the... Yeah. At the end of one, You're like, this is a great idea. Let's do this again, type of deal?
I don't even know if I would go there.
I would say, like, alright. That was absurd.
We did this. Yeah
Scott, let's let's see what you come up with.
Well let's see if there's actually anything there. Let's see if anyone is action half interested at all in this total.
And I don't know. A quarter of a million people, I guess, we're somewhat interested. Yeah. Blew up, man. I mean,
I mean, that had to feels... That had to feel really good.
But at the same time, like, you have to be like, what the fuck are people that many people doing watching just me and my buddies go fish. Like, I I always think of that, like,
you know, I don't know. I've released things that have blown up at various times I'm just like,
Wow. That's really cool, but what are... What... Like, what are people doing? Like, why are they watching?
You know, what are y'all? Yeah.
You know, it you're not wrong. It is. It's it's not weird.
For anyone, like, I'm not saying anyone who watches it is weird or anyone that knows. No No. But it's a weird experience me. Yeah. That's what I mean. It's a weird experience for you. Yeah. Right.
My take on it is weird. Yeah.
And, you know, I think it it's it's really cool that, you know, people,
you know, recognize me in public or whatever from Ceos and it's like, it's it's super cool.
I always come away from it, like, Man. That was weird. Like, why did people know who I am because we total.
Two thousand dollar bus, and we bum around in it with some guys and, you know, but... Well, it's, you know, it's a commentary on, you know, I think of,
you know, I I've been around the industry a long time and it it's hard to capture authenticity and it's hard to capture what the root of the sport and what people connect to. And you you guys do that really well. You know? And, you know, I think it shows that
there needs to be a lot more authenticity and some of the stuff that's out there. You know what I mean? And people
Flock to... That people flock to real
in this day and age, like, you know, bugs to a freaking lamp. You know? It's just...
Because there's so much... It's so rare. Right? Like... Yeah. You know?
And, you know, I think I think that has been a big part of what, you know, what we've been able all of our success, I think stems from that. Yeah. The success from Blue line
and Wild
and the short bus. I think all all extends from the fact that, you know,
we don't we're we don't play some sort of character in the videos. You know, that's the, like, that's who we are
and
Well, and you know, It's not it's not another dude on a flat in the S shell hook Gts or whatever, and I'm watching it being like, well,
Fuck, I... That's awesome, but I don't even know where that is on a map, let alone, could I ever afford to go there. You know what I mean? Like,
Oh, awesome. I I mean, if I don't just... It's like, it's completely unrelated. Right? Right. Like but, I mean, from the first time I saw one of your guys videos. I'm like,
kinda looks like my fucking twenties. That's awesome. You know?
Yeah. Yeah. And and definitely one of the things that we really wanted, you know, not just obviously from a Youtube and and
business standpoint. But, you know, we really wanted something that you would, like, watch it and be like, oh, I gotta share that with my fishing buddies. Totally Totally. You know, I mean, like you're saying, I mean, watching the video to say shelves and, you know, sharing it to your fishing buddies is cool. Like, oh, dude, we, you know, maybe one day if yeah all with the lottery. Let's go do this. Yeah. Let's let's meet they're never.
Right. But, you know, hopefully,
you know,
people watch the short bus diaries and they're like, oh, wow. That's neat and then share it with their buddies or, you know, share it, share a link, you know, to someone else that they like to fish with. And that's all dude look. These guys, you know, bought this crappy bus and We can do that. We can do that. Yeah.
Yeah. So
Episode one blows up, like, you guys are, like, fuck, I guess we gotta do it again, or were you, like,
let's do this.
So, you know, I don't know who...
I it
it was either Brian or Scott or Steven. I I it was one of the other three,
said something that kinda of really stuck with me. But, yeah. You know, it's I think one of the reasons
just alluding to what you just said. Yeah. One of the reasons that it is popular is because
it's...
I honestly think this is some stuff that we would be doing, whether we video it or not. Oh, yeah. I totally get that thing per... Like... Yeah. No. I totally get that by. Right. Right Yeah. I think it's I think it's great. I mean, I... You know, it gives us a reason to do it. Gives me a little more motivation to keep keep doing it and make it better and start putting more money into it more production value and... Yeah. You continuing. But
it well, let's just say I don't get the impression. You just started buying random shit off Craigslist because there was money in making videos
filming it.
Right. That
that... I think you're... I I... You strike me as a man that was buying random shit off Craigslist for a long time.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. You're yeah. You're you're not wrong. I just never Craigslist to the young age. Yeah.
But so, yeah. Essentially, once, you know, volume one came out,
you know, as I said, we we self funded
volume one. And
obviously, got great reactions to it, started having some folks in the industry you're reaching out to us, started, you know, having a lot of a lot of customers and and comments and viewers and, you know, I I mean, it's everybody. We were like, man. Okay? Well, I mean, it's... It... I don't think there's ever an actual phone conversation that was Hey, guys. So this went well. Are we doing this again? Yeah. Just, you know, I don't think that conversation ever happened. It was... Yeah. Alright. Well, what's next? That's awesome.
Yeah. And so that's where, you know, that's where volume two came to be and
did some upgrades, did some... Did some different things of the bus, spend a little bit of money on it, and
you know, got ready to film volume too. That's awesome.
And so
volume two was the death of the bus, though. Right? Like that
like, the bus died after volume two.
Yeah. Because volume three starts with the, you know, not the spoiler alert, but with the purchasing of the new bus.
Well, actually, so volume... If the bus made it through volume too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Great. See. Yeah.
I honestly could not believe it. So
it's actually
the death of the of
the bus
was the start of volume three. Oh, okay. Not really as much of the end of volume two. Okay.
So I'm getting... I... We're gearing up for volume three, which is Colorado. Oh, yes. Yeah
I... We're definitely not big by any means. I mean, we don't have you know, just tons and tons of people, you know, whatever. But, you know, that's, I mean, volume three is, you know, where I started talking to you. Yeah. Absolutely. A lot of our a lot of our sponsors that were like man. Like, we we want this to continue. We wanna keep seeing this happen. Yeah. Ain't anybody getting rich in the fly fishing industry, but there's a lot of people helping and each other stay in it. So.
Exactly. Yeah. So
that's that's obviously just where we're at. So we
we're, like, well, we're gearing up for volume three,
I have the bus in storage here in Salt Lake.
I've left it in front of my house for one too many nights that my wife will allow. Oh, yeah. So... Yeah.
Yeah. Well, I mean, just just you saying you're married means you're not leaving a bus in front of the house anymore. I mean, that's. Yeah. I I did it for a bit. And she... She's she's the saint. She understood it, but eventually, she was, like,
that butt... Where's the bus going.
That's a great question. That's let me figure that out right now.
We haven't really dug that deep into this, you know? Yeah.
Let me hop on Craigslist.
Now.
I found a Rv storage place.
It's actually
a really nice place. I wanted... But the bus... The old bus is was not waterproof by any means of that word. Oh,
So I wanted something that was covered.
Gotcha. I... Well, I guess I take that back. I... I we had to have something that was covered. Yeah. So
the only covered as you could probably imagine, the only covered Rv parking place is very expensive. Oh, yeah. No. That's not a cheap. That's not a cheap george.
And then also, there means that they cater to people that don't
have short buses. Yeah. They cater to people that, like, have Rv vs and not, you know, rep repurpose. Correct. School transportation.
Right. Right.
So,
I pull into this place, and I'm like hey I'm like, hey, I've got this, you know, I've got this
motor home.
I I told
motor. It's a
there's motor home,
you know, it's it's this long. You know, we need... I need to find a place of store. Do you have any availability there they were like, yeah. Sure. It's it... Yeah. Absolutely. This is how much it is. I, I agree to it, Brought it over there?
And the girl met me and was, like, but she's like... Yeah, what? Yeah. We store our rv not meth labs. Come back. When you have an Rv.
Not this pile of us. Yeah. That but you're bringing you're bringing down the. Yeah. You're bringing down the value of our property by just having this thing here. Yeah. No go. No joke. That's kind of how they fell. Yeah.
Well also so anyways, she... They they took it, and I was like, alright. Great. There we go. We got a spot board.
So
fast forward to getting ready for volume three. I call these folks. And I'm like, hey, guys, You know, I'm I'm getting ready to, you know, come,
I need to pick up my bus up next week and,
you know,
if you guys can make sure it... You,
they kinda park it inside, so it's, like, they they... You have to let them know ahead of time. Oh, yeah. They parked that shit way in the. Got shuffle.
Other cars around the things. Yeah. So
The girl goes, oh, you're... You have the bus. I was like, yeah. She was, like,
my my manager needs to speak with you. Oh, oh, that's good. That's what's a good phone of room to call you out or whatever And. Yeah. I was like, you know what this... This cannot be good. This... It's like I'm getting called, like, to the principal office. Totally like, totally.
There's nothing good that your manager needs to talk to me you about. Like, this He's not gonna call and say, hey, Thank you for your business. Like,
he's not no. My No. You're... Yeah. I don't know. He's not. He's definitely not. So I get a call from him, and he's like, yeah.
Your bus is leaked coolant
everywhere
and coil
everywhere from you're gonna have a cleanup fee for that,
and you need to get this bus off of our property by the end of the month.
The a a non running non functioning bus.
Now I... You know, here... Here's my thing. I'm sure that, you know, whoever works and operates that establishment that I keep my bus at. Doesn't walk... Doesn't listen to your podcast. I, guarantee maybe they... Yeah.
Maybe they do and and he can just call me back later. But,
I am somewhat confident that someone hopped in that butt. It... It... Because, yes. It does leak oil. Very, very that. I am confident that someone hopped in that bus turned it on and drove it without oil in it. While they were shuffling cars. Oh.
And never added oil to the engine.
Gotcha.
And that's the reason that it did it died because it... I mean, it really was. I mean, as as much as we joke about it. It really was a half decent. Decent piece.
And
mechanically,
I mean, it was super slow, but it was a super solid
truck.
So
I don't really understand
excuse me. I don't really understand where the disconnect happened. When we dropped it off from vol two and to that phone call.
But
in all, honesty, we aren't... We knew that we had to buy a new bus to begin with.
Anyways, we were hoping to get through volume free with it and buy a new one for volume four.
And with kind of our growth and everything that all made sense.
So
we're, like, you know, gearing up to to go on volume three, and we find out that we have to have a new bus.
That's a gut punch.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So
q, you know,
Craigslist,
finding new buses.
Yeah. Well, I mean the new one if... I mean, no spoiler alerts, you know, spoiler alert to everyone. But the new one. I mean, it it it... I mean, it's not like it looks any newer than the old one. I mean you're definitely keeping the vibe.
Right? Yes. You know? It's not like you're... Like I said, it's not like you got a Mercedes van now or something. Right Right. You know? Yeah. The you stuck with. You stuck with the theme pretty legit.
So...
Yeah. And, I mean, it's it's kinda funny. I've had people that, you know, didn't even really recognize that it was a new bus. No. I... I didn't... In I wouldn't love unless there was the part, you know, where there was the videos outfit fitting the bus and ripping the seats out and all the all the stuff. You know? Right. Right. Yeah.
They're both Thomas Buses.
I mean, I don't I don't... There's not that much variation in short buses design, I guess. But... No. I I don't think there's, like a huge market where a lot of people are making them.
Right. Yeah.
But...
Excuse me. It is it is quite a bit newer. It's
went from a ninety three to an o seven. Wow. So you're in the odds now. Yeah. Yeah mean that's generational. That's generational new.
Yeah. I mean, the old bus could drink, you know, itself. They could walk into a bar and order of order of beer. Oh, I don't even wanna know what the mileage is on those. I mean, it it... I
Yeah. In even on the title, it's T u.
Because who, you know, who knows how many times that O is turned over. Totally
totally.
But we've got this you know, this new one, it it...
You even though it is o seven. I mean it is still of bus. It's not... You know, just like you said, It's not a mercedes burner. No.
But it's it's it's
mechanically, it's a lot better.
It's been way better maintained.
We purchased it from the burner company who was using it as a bus. Oh, that... That's solid. So it didn't like travel around with some hippie band for, like, seven years and then... Exactly. Yeah. Yeah.
So since obviously, this place was operating it as of as a,
transportation, you know, bus, it's got, you know,
extremely good,
you know, maintenance record.
All of the maintenance has been done. They were carrying people's children in it. So it had it had to pass some tests.
Exactly. Yeah. So, yeah. They're not just tossing out, you know, any sort of licensing for short. So Yeah. Totally.
Anyways, Went and drove it and and it's definitely not fast, but it does go seventy.
Wow. But,
like, you know, with a good tailwind down a hill. Yeah. Well, I mean, he you there's not a lot of states you can drive bus seventy miles an hour in legally anyway. So... Right. You know. Right.
Yeah. So, I mean, we still get past a lot. It's still super slow, but it definitely fits the bill a lot better. It is a hair larger. It's a hair wider. A So the the space inside is just a little more usable as well. Yeah. And, honestly, the old bus, you don't see it in any of the videos, but it had so much rust.
Oh, yeah. I was very concerned about... Things like, you know, just even the suspension or, you know, it the brakes... The brake lines and, you know, all that stuff needed to be replaced
truthfully.
So where... What did you do with the old bus? Did you just, like...
Did you give it like, a viking funeral or something?
We're honestly, we're still a little bit in limbo. So... Oh, so it's... You still own it? Do you... Are you the owner of two short buses?
Yes. I am. Wow.
My dream has honestly come true because I've upgraded from a captain to a accommodate or.
Yes. Have a... I have a full short bus fleet now. They're things of a short bus. Your wife is. Stoked. It's his hers models.
Well, we're...
We're honestly, we're still trying to figure out exactly what we're gonna do with the old bus. Yeah.
But
we were like...
Well, we gotta get rid of this thing as, you know, kind of going back to the phone call that I had with the
guy who, you know, was the manager at the storage place. Yeah. Hey. You gotta come get this bus. Yeah.
But we're gearing up for volume three. We're trying to figure out what to do. I mean, that just sent us in a tails. Right? Yeah.
You gotta move this bus. You gotta get this freaking thing out of here. I'm talking to junkyard and junkyard you're like, yeah, We won't take it. You've gotta pay us to take this bus
And I'm like, oh, god. What are we gonna do? And, like, now it doesn't drive. I've got a tow it somewhere. Like, things were going. Things were bad.
This is looking like a really horrible idea.
Right. Yeah. Now we're like, oh my gosh. So
Scott has the great idea
to ask our fans for help.
Okay. He hops on Instagram, and
Goes, hey, guy. He makes a quick little video. Hey, guys.
We we need a place. And and, of course, we're trying to figure out how to say this without saying, like, the bus is broken. We cannot fix it. We have to buy and New bus, you know, we don't we don't wanna spoil anything for what's coming up that we know for volume three. Yeah. So Hey, guys. We just need a place to park to bus
a around Salt Lake
for
for a little bit of time. And need determined amount of time?
Un determined right now can do... But we need help. Is anyone willing to help. Yeah. And you would not believe the amount of people that, you know, reached out to us and said, yeah. And then, I've got... You know, I've got this or that or whatever.
I picked the guy who reached out to me that was the closest. To the storage facility that I get a towed to. Oh, yeah. The cheapest to.
Yep. Because that the cheapest to. So
reach out this super nice guy, Joe, I... Huge shout out to this guy. I cannot believe that him and his wife
let him do this. But he was like, yeah, man. You could park the bus here, and I was like, so I get him on the phone, and I tell him the whole backstory story, and he's...
They're their fans. They they just... There's
they're happy to help out. Yeah.
And he was like, yeah, man Tow the bus over.
So
I meet up with a tow toe driver, get the bus towed to this guy's place, meet him in person,
and it is currently sitting in his
Rv pad, which... The previous owner of his house had an Rv pad built. Wow
they don't have an Rv or a trailer.
Shows, like, raising chickens out of it right now or something.
Probably. His kids actually, if you go check the short bust Diaries Instagram. Yeah. His kids decorated it for Christmas.
That's awesome. So it's like a fork, so he's stoked. He didn't have to build a club house. He's just like, I got you guys a fucking band. Like, Yeah. Play army in this thing.
Yeah. There's some kids are out Salt lake that you were playing...
You know, cowboys and Indians or something out of the out of the out of the bus right? Perfect. Do you gonna either call when those kids are, like, seventeen and, like, ready to move out? And he's like, dude did you gotta get the fucking van out of here now?
Well,
I've I have promised him, like, I just...
He was so nice to take that off of my plate. Yeah. We dialed short bus three in. Yeah. And then, now the short bus three is over, you know, holidays are, you know, we're still do it... There's still a lot of work even after we finished filming that we have to work with. But
I did tell him I'd have it out of there by spring.
So we're pretty excited to get that thing. You know, out out out of Joe's hair.
Still un determined exactly what we do we wanna do with it. We've had some great ideas. Unfortunately, every idea that we've had costs money. So Yeah.
Yeah. We're not a hundred percent sure.
I mean, you're in Salt Lake, you just drive it out in the desert and leave it. Ripped the plates off. Yeah. You know, I mean, you're not the first guy to abandon a car. You know, leave it to take it out the burning man or something and just fucking nuke it.
But filed the vin off the bus. Totally. That's the short bus. Totally, just, you know, strip it down. It's just like, I don't know where that came from.
Yeah. I don't know about that. Yeah. That's not.
But we've we've had... Kinda... I think it would be really cool. Like I said, it just all takes money, but
some of the things that have been passed around is blowing it up. Yeah be a ton of fun. Yeah. I absolutely absolutely
or I've also thought we could... If we got the engine and transmission taken out of it. Mh.
We could hook up a tow bar to the front. Mh.
Got the inside of it again,
and turn it into, like, a mobile
coffee shop podcast studio
fly shop. Oh, yeah.
That we can tow behind either my truck or
the new bus.
Oh, yeah.
That... I mean, turning it into, like, a trailer that you towed behind the new bus, that'd be really sick.
Yeah. Yeah. That's that's that's definitely your thought that one's not cheap.
But anyways, I don't know. Will... We'll see, we're not a hundred percent sure of the fate of the of the whole bus just yet, but
Stay tuned will will come
So
as we kinda get on the on the side of an hour. So the episode three is in the can and you guys are...
Releasing those episodes. I'm one's out. I know you sent me a a bus tour video.
Where are you in the process of releasing season three.
So there are four
main episodes of season three that kinda just die... You know,
same styles the old one as one too. Just from start to finish of the trip. Okay.
So there's four episodes of that. The first one is out. Yep. The second one is coming out from as we offer
filming this anyways.
Is coming out this Sunday. Okay. Cool.
So the
twelfth
December twelfth. Yes.
So then, on the end... Those are those main episodes are releasing once every other week. Oh, okay. Cool. So you be... By the end of the year, the whole thing's is gonna be out
or end into... No that that'll takes into January. Yeah. That'll take us into January. On the off weeks of the main videos. Mh. We are dropping
little kinda secondary videos like what I sent you the boss that was like Mtv crib style bus.
Yeah.
We wanted to do that one for a long time, mostly just because we thought it would was... I... We probably enjoyed it. No. It it needed to be done watched. It needed to be done. It needed to be done.
Yeah. So we're we're... We've now dropped one of the main episodes and one of the the, you know, kinda in between episodes. So... Gotcha. We've got Gotcha three more main episodes left to come out and three more fun things to come out. Cool. Cool. So you you got content coming out for a while, and where can people find all this?
So
they can hop on Youtube, if they Google... If they're specifically interested in the short bus series, they can Google short bus diaries.
Yeah. Those will pop up.
We we have made short bus volume two into a full length movie.
It's like two hours, so you can
so it's really kinda cool. We have people that click, you know, that click, it's click that my guess is you know, plays in the background, make people tag us and stuff as they're tying or Yeah. You have stuff with the the short bus in the background.
And then
so if you just Google,
short bust diaries it'll pop up. Wild
productions is the main... Is the
Youtube channel that we put the short bus diaries out on, and that Scott. Yeah. We have a lot more videos,
other than just the short bus as as you said, That's the biggest.
That's the biggest thing that we have going, but we have some bull trout fishing. We... There's a ton of cool content. Yeah. There's a ton of great content on there.
Yeah. Yeah. From the,
you're interested in the, you know, some of the other stuff we said, the,
about, the bass fishing in Alabama earlier, those videos can be found there as well. So... Cool.
So Wild...
On Youtube and then what's the Wild website? Because there's a ton of stuff on that too?
Oh, yeah. Yeah. If you just... You can go to, just type in Wild,
doc or, what is it? Wild dot com. Wild dash fly dot com. Well take you to the wild page.
We've got a lot of
all of the short bust diaries,
merch is on that.
Little plugs for the short bus, any... Any,
short bus diaries merch that you buy, a hundred percent of profits go to the short bus film. Yeah. And you guys got... There's a bunch of great merch on there. A bunch of great sweatshirt and hoodies and hats and all sorts of really cool stuff you guys have designed.
So... Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty cool. We we definitely enjoy doing it and folks can, for sure help us out if they... If they wanna help, you know, grab a shirt, grab a hat or something, grab a shirt for a a friend as well. And
those... That that money a hundred percent goes towards, you know, the gas, that this cost, the insurance, the storage. Yeah. You, all the stuff that we have to do for the bus. If they... If anyone likes watching the bus videos, that stuff helps us out a lot.
And then also Scott merch is there for Wild itself, he has a lot of,
some, a few accessory things, a lot of hats and shirts and stuff like that. And then, if you're interested in any flies that we sell,
our website is blue line flies dot com.
And
our our all of our flies are on there. We've got some bundles. We've got some great
gift options as well, and then also a lot of shirts,
and some tech shirts, like sun shirts,
Yeah. There's ton of good stuff. I spent a... I I killed at least an hour today when I probably should've have been working on my,
actual paying jobs.
It's... There's a lot of great stuff on there. A lot of great flies,
a lot of great merch stuff. If guys look at gifts and stuff like that. So... Yeah. No. I man, I I...
I'm really... We're definitely experiencing. I'm sure just like, you know, everybody else is. We're we're experiencing some shortages and things like that from the global economy problems. So...
Oh, yeah. Not everything's in stock, but we're we're doing the best we can to make sure we have as much inventory as possible. Yeah. Yeah. At this stage, people don't have an option to be patient. Don't be Jackass. Yeah. Yeah. Know. So...
Well, Man, I I definitely wanna have you back on, you know, there's there's so much we didn't talk about that I wanted to talk about, but it's it's part of the fun thing to do in the podcast is meet new people and realizing that you can't cover it all in an hour hour fifteen minutes. So
We'll definitely have you back on. So... Great. I had a lot of fun. I I sure appreciate you. You give give me a call and,
asking asked me to be on. I had a lot of fun.
Same here. Sorry. I
ramble a little bit. I Oh, no, Man. That's that's what it's all about. You know, my podcast. I try to keep him as organic as possible, dude, Like, it's

been a huge help for,
any of you guys that haven't seen yet, loo.
Was a big sponsor for, the short bus three and got all of the tying material for the... Or tying tools
for the tying station that we built in the bus. So... And that's a new addition for bus two. Right? Bus one didn't have a tying station. Correct? Correct. Yeah. Yeah. For bus too. When we when we rebuilt it. Yeah. It
yeah. It was a huge help, and it's it's been great getting to know you from that. Awesome, man. Well, I definitely

Adam grew up in Alabama, where he learned to fly fish in a way most people don’t—by chasing smallmouth bass instead of trout. He lived far from any fly shop, so he couldn’t just grab new gear whenever he needed it. Instead of relying on the limited flies he could buy, he started designing and tying his own at home. With his friend Stephen, he created the patterns that eventually became the first Blue Line Co. flies. Today, many of the company’s best-known patterns are his inventions.
