Conditions

The Smith River is closed by low-flow restrictions through April 30, 2027 and requires a minimum of 600 cfs at Jedediah Smith State Park gauge to open. As of October 29, flows sat at 50 cfs well below that threshold. Light rain and falling pressure over the next 48 hours may nudge flows slightly higher, but major runoff is unlikely soon. When conditions do improve and flows rise, the river becomes a popular destination for Chinook salmon within daily and seasonal limits.
