Slim Beauty knot
Line to line in 2 min.

Also called Slim Beauty, slim beauty connection

A low-profile join between a light class tippet and a much heavier shock tippet that needs no Bimini, using doubled tippet wrapped out and back from a figure-eight in the shock. Tarpon anglers use it as a slimmer, quicker alternative to the Huffnagle or Albright.

How to tie it

  1. Step 1: Tie a double overhand knot near the end of the shock tippet and draw it down into a loose, bowl-shaped figure-eight.

  2. Step 2: Double the end of the class tippet and pass about 10" of the doubled section through both openings of the figure-eight, entering at the tag side and exiting toward the standing shock tippet.

  3. Step 3: Wrap the long end of the shock tippet around one hand, grip the short end with pliers and pull the figure-eight as tight as it will go, keeping a small gap in front of the knot.

  4. Step 4: Wind the doubled class tippet four times around the shock tippet, working away from the figure-eight.

  5. Step 5: Wind it back three times over those wraps toward the figure-eight, then tuck the doubled end into the gap in front of the knot.

  6. Step 6: Wet the knot, pull the standing class tippet and standing shock tippet apart with one quick, firm pull, and trim both tags.
