Figure-eight wire knot
Line to fly in 0.75 min.
Also called figure 8 wire knot, figure-eight knot for wire
A simple figure-eight through the hook eye for tying knottable, nylon-coated wire bite tippet straight to a fly. Fly anglers use it for pike, bluefish, barracuda and other toothy fish where a crimp or wire twist is not needed.

How to tie it
Step 1: Pass the knottable wire through the hook eye, leaving a tag of 3" to 4".
Step 2: Bring the tag around behind the standing wire to form a loop beside the eye.
Step 3: Pass the tag across the front of the standing wire and back through that first loop next to the eye, so the wire forms an 8.
Step 4: Hold the standing wire firm and pull the tag with pliers to close the knot, since pulling the standing wire to seat it can kink the wire.
Step 5: Check that the knot sits snug against the eye and trim the tag, leaving a short stub.
