FG knot
Braid to line in 2 min.
Also called FG
Joins braid to a mono or fluorocarbon leader by plaiting the braid around the leader so it grips like a finger trap, leaving a slim join that runs through guides. Anglers use it wherever braid meets a heavier leader, including braided backing or braid running line to a mono section.

How to tie it
Step 1: Put the braid under firm tension, held in your teeth or anchored to the rod, and lay the leader tag across it.
Step 2: Pass the leader under the braid from one side and pull snug, then under from the other side and pull snug, so the braid criss-crosses the leader in a tight plait.
Step 3: Keep alternating for about 16 to 20 wraps, holding tension on the braid so the wraps stay tight and even.
Step 4: Lock the wraps with two half hitches of the braid tag around the leader, then wet the knot and pull hard on the standing braid and leader to bed the plait.
Step 5: Trim the leader tag close, add two or more half hitches with the braid tag over the trimmed end for a smooth finish, and trim the braid.
