Melissa Frogh discovered her passion for river life at age thirteen during her first multi-day river expedition, leading her to pursue a career guiding some of the West's most remarkable waterways. With a background that combines a degree in Exercise Science and Psychology from Montana State University alongside a childhood steeped in outdoor pursuits—from ski racing to mountain biking and rafting in Utah—she brings both expertise and genuine enthusiasm to her work. She has spent four summers guiding trips on the Yampa Canyon and Gates of Lodore sections of the Green River, where she earned the nickname Safety Officer Mel for her meticulous attention to river safety. Now based in Idaho, she guides extended expeditions on the Middle Fork, and during winter months she works as a ski patroller in Montana while continuing her love of travel and outdoor exploration.
