Matthew House grew up in the Columbia Basin of eastern Washington and began his guiding career on the Snake River in Grand Teton Park in 2001, quickly discovering his passion for rivers and the outdoor lifestyle. Over the past two decades, he has guided expeditions across multiple western rivers in Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona, while also contributing to the development of new guides through instruction at various guide schools. House finds fulfillment in sharing his love of adventure and wild landscapes with people of diverse backgrounds, and during winter months he transitions to leading backcountry snowcat skiing expeditions near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
