An Idaho native and University of Oregon graduate, Martin Rood has made the West Central mountains his home since 1992. He holds Level 3 instructor credentials in both Alpine and Telemark skiing and spent twelve years as Director of Snowsports School and Instructor Trainer at Brundage Mountain Resort before transitioning to snowcat ski guiding at Tamarack Resort in McCall. Dedicated to avalanche safety, he volunteered as a forecaster and educator with the Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center. Since 1994, Rood has developed his vision for operating a backcountry yurt system, now offering guests human-powered winter experiences in Idaho's remote terrain.
