Raised along Oregon's McKenzie River, he began his river career at age 13 as a swamper assisting his father on Middle Fork Salmon trips, then transitioned to guiding as soon as he obtained his license. His deep commitment to the rivers and outfitting lifestyle is supported by his wife Sherill, and the family legacy continues as his daughter Kelsey and her husband Kidd carry the business forward into the next generation.
