Ian Privette brings extensive expertise in both wingshooting and fly fishing to his work at Flying B Ranch, where he has been a full-time guide since 2013. Originally from Springfield, Illinois, he honed his passion for hunting during formative experiences in North Carolina, where he pursued quail with family members. After earning a master's degree in guitar jazz performance from Southern Illinois University in 2008, he transitioned to guiding and began his Orvis-endorsed career in Montana, fishing for native west slope cutthroat and bull trout on the South Fork of the Flathead River while spending winters guiding upland quail hunters in North Carolina's low country and fishing tidal flats for red fish. At Flying B Ranch, he oversees the dog kennels and bird processing operations in addition to guiding guests on hunting and fishing expeditions. His writing and photography documenting hunting and fishing have been featured in Wildlife in North Carolina Magazine, Montana Outdoors, and Montana Fly Fishing Magazine. When not guiding, Ian pursues his varied interests including shed horn hunting, fly tying, and carp fishing, and resides in Kamiah with his wife Janna and their four hunting and companion dogs.
