Hogan Hernandez grew up in Sisters and developed a deep connection to the Central Oregon landscape through the mountains and rivers of the region. Her guiding journey began in high school through an outdoor program, and she later earned a degree in Journalism and Public Relations with a minor in Mandarin Chinese from the University of Oregon. Based in Bend, she has spent the past six years honing her rowing skills across Oregon's waterways and portions of Idaho, while extending her seasons by leading geology-focused trips on the Owyhee River starting in early April. She gained additional expertise running the gear boat for a fly fishing operation on the Grande Ronde River, where she discovered her passion for trout and steelhead fishing. Hernandez made her first descent of the Middle Fork of the Salmon in 2019 and brings her enthusiasm for cooking, painting, traveling, skiing, and mountain work to her guiding experiences.
