A small creek near Chester, with deep lava rock pools between meadow stretches, reached on foot.
Willow Creek is a small creek in the North Fork Feather drainage near Chester, one of the short-rod tributaries above Lake Almanor. One spot reaches it. In 1990 a USFS sign for the Willow Creek Summer Homes marked the turn, 6.8 mi from Chester. Past the homes a 4x4 track follows the creek upstream, but it is narrow for a full-size truck, and the creek is better reached on foot. In 1990 trailers and RVs were left off the road, and their owners walked in past the homes. Upstream, the creek alternates between deep pools in lava rock and open meadow stretches. Bring a short rod. Walk the track and fish the lava rock pools, then cover the meadow water between them. Regulations change and differ by section, so check the current California regulations before you go.
