A small meandering creek on Warner Valley Rd, with downed wood, undercut banks, pools and riffles.
Warner Creek is a small tributary in the North Fork Feather drainage above Lake Almanor, followed by Warner Valley Rd. Two spots on the road reach it. Warner Creek Campground, at 1.1 mi along Warner Valley Rd, is a pretty spot: the creek runs in pools and riffles, with logs for cover, banks cut under, and a few little bars of gravel; in 1990 any vehicle could get in. At 3.0 mi the road crosses the creek on a bridge. In 1990 there was parking for any vehicle on the west side of the bridge and for small vehicles on the east. Here the creek meanders through downed wood, and the banks are open for walking up or downstream. All methods were in use here in 1990. The downed wood, the log structure and the undercut banks are the cover to fish, whether you drift a fly or bait, and the open banks at the bridge let you cover a good length of creek on foot. Regulations change and differ by section, so check the current California regulations before you go.
