Conditions
Steelhead passage numbers are strong, setting up an excellent season. As of August 5, flows are running 4,200 cfs at White Bird and dropping steadily, with water temperature at 70°F—above safe release thresholds during daylight hours. Fish early morning and target cooler riffles and tributary mouths to protect steelhead. Cold-water nymphing during the warmest part of the day will give you the best chance at hookups.
